The above picture is by John
Paul Strain of Generals Lee & Longstreet meeting at the beginning of the
third day at the Battle of Gettysburg.
I admire both of these men, because they fought to the bitter end a cause that they believed in yet after the war admitted that maybe their cause had not been right. Revisionists tend to forget Lee's statements after the Civil War, but Longstreet's reputation was destroyed by them.
Years after the war, Longstreet was not invited to a reunion at Gettysburg. Longstreet came anyway and when the former soldiers who had served under him saw him, they broke into a cheer that lasted 10 minutes. This was right before his death, and I like to think that the men who fought with him are a better judge of the man's character and Generalship than a bunch of revisionists sitting in a university somewhere.
Just a few things about me:
My Spare Time Interests:
Computers
I love computers. I have been messing
with them for over 25 years. I have been working on them professionally
for over 12 years.
History
As you might be able to discern
from the picture above, I am fascinated with History. I have a Master's in
History and once dreamed of getting my Phd. I am currently (and have been
for 10 years) on a break from school. Before I die, I will get my
doctorate.
Ufos, & the Occult
I love stories and theories
about ufo's, and the occult. Much of it is bunk, but most theories have a
glimmer of truth in them. One day we will all know the truth about this
stuff.
